Regarding that minor existential question “why?”, in the short term, it is often easier to find comfort in judging something or someone than in staying open, curious, and present to it.
But judgment is never satiated, and once the brain decides, the door to learning closes. You can play the short game and seek certainty and comfort or you can play the long game and seek understanding and wisdom. It’s a real choice, with real consequences.
