We know instinctively what to do with stories. The point of storytelling is not just to tell stories, but to appropriate them.
Humans have a built-in need for stories. Stories are not just a means to pass along information; they are how we connect – with our past and present, with ourselves and one another. They are the technology through which wisdom and identity are created and shared.
Hearing stories is one thing. Making them our own is what counts.
