Stories Sisyphus Could Be Telling Himself

“There are worse rocks and worse hills. At least this rock is not that heavy, and this hill is not that steep.”

“At least it’s a job.”

“I wish someone would invent a machine to do this.”

“I could invent a machine to do this.”

“It’s too late / I’m too old” to do anything else.

“If I stop now, it proves I’ve been wrong / wasting my time.”

“I’m not qualified to do anything else.”

“One of these days, day the rock will stay at the top.”

“I hate gravity. Gravity is my enemy.”

 

What would happen if Sisyphus stopped telling stories about his situation and started asking questions about it instead?
