My son-in-law has developed what he calls the “breakfast reset hypothesis.” Based on the idea that a good day begins with a good breakfast, his approach to the inevitable “bad day” is to have breakfast again. He maintains that this is why restaurants like Denny’s are open 24 hours a day. Whenever your day starts going off the rails, stop. Have a good breakfast. Start over.
Breakfast as mindfulness; breakfast as spiritual practice. One could do a lot worse.
